Sustainability Policy
The purpose of this policy is to provide guidance on how to conduct our business responsibly. It is intended for MARDEC Berhad (“MARDEC” or “The Company”) and all of its subsidiary companies and processing facilities.
As a pioneer in rubber processing in Malaysia, we understand that our long term continued success depends upon strong corporate governance, environmental performance, and community goodwill. Mardec using EcoVadis platform as part of our sustainability and corporate social responsibilities (CSR) initiatives to assess and improve the sustainability performance since 2017 for 3 factories under Mardec Processing Sdn. Bhd. (MPSB) consists of MPSB Mentakab, MPSB Bota and MPSB Baling. As a result, MPSB has receives a SILVER medal in 2022, ranked Top 20% of all companies in 2022.
Mardec Siger Way Kanan (MSWK), one of our branches at Indonesia also started using EcoVadis since 2022 as their performance improvement tools and initiatives for corporate social responsibility (CSR). For the first assessment, MSWK has receives a Silver medal in 2022, ranked Top 17% of all companies in 2022.
MPSB Baling
In order to ensure the sustainability of MPSB Baling in rubber processing, the MPSB’s top management had requested MPSB Baling to increase its SMR 10/SMR 20 production to a maximum of 150 MT DRC/day. In order to comply with the regulatory requirements, the factory’s management has decided to upgrade its existing effluent treatment plant to cater for the increase in SMR 10/SMR 20 production. However, in order to preserve the environment, the factory had also decided to recycle its treated effluent completely (zero discharge) for use in its rubber processing.
Mardec-Yala
Mardec-Yala to control malodour from the anaerobic pond by using a biogas recovery system. a number of latex concentrate processing factories and palm oil mills in Southern Thailand have started using the biogas recovery system, which enable them to overcome the malodour problem from the release of hydrogen sulphide and methane gases from their anaerobic ponds.
